The following organizations below support children with heart disease and have received gifts from Hearts of Harvest Foundation.

American Heart Association-Western States Affiliate 2001 -2005, 2007, 2012

Our gifts to the AHA support HOHF mission of helping to prevent heart disease in children by allocating funds specifically to Pediatric Heart Research. If defects and heart disease can be corrected in children, cures for our children can provide hope in preventative heart care for adults. 100% of all American Heart Association gifts are specifically designated for pediatric heart research only. None of our gift is ever used for general overhead or fundraising costs.

As of April, 2013, $99,739.00 has been gifted to our Western States Affiliate branch of the American Heart Association. ($10,000 given to Midwestern Pediatric Research Endowment in 2003). | www.americanheart.org

Children’s Heart Fund Family Network 2001-2002

Prior to HOHF becoming their own non-profit organization, monies raised from our 2001 and 2002 “Hearts of Harvest” events were allocated to a Sacramento based non-profit who solely supported children with heart disease.

Gifts for two years resulted in $16,165.00.

Camp Taylor, Inc. 2003-2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016-2018

With almost 40% of the campers coming from the valley of California, Camp Taylor runs several camps for kids with heart disease. Our gift helps to support this free camp for kids with CHD and their siblings. Camp Taylor’s program called 4 “Heartsake” provides financial assistance to families from the valley of California that are having financial hardship due to a hospitalization or being on the transplant list. Their mission is to create positive experiences in the lives of children with heart disease.

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Heart Social Services Fund 2003, 2007, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018

Our gifts are used to help families with heart patients meet their basic needs while in a crisis. Many families travel to this hospital from great distances. Examples of assistance include: Financial assistance with food, housing, transportation, funeral costs and pharmacy costs. The cost of complex medical care can be a drain on a family’s financial resources. Here is a quote from one family who benefited from a HOHF gift.

Dollars For Dylan 2004

Dylan, at the time this gift was given, was a 3 year old boy. He and his family (Jim, Melanie, Jordan and Derek live here in Tracy). Dylan has had ten or more heart surgeries. He was born with his heart facing backward with no right ventricle. They faced medical bills that insurance did not cover. HOHF worked directly with the Social Services Department at Children’s Hospital in Oakland to help with medical costs not covered by their insurance.

UCSF Children’s Hospital 2004

Our gift was allocated to specifically serve the needs of children with congenital heart disease. Funds are administered by UCSF social workers with none of our gift going to administrative costs. HOHF’s desire is to assist the heart families that need financial help with basic needs while in crisis. Funds were used to help a family who lost their five month old baby. Due to their substantial medical expenses, they were unable to pay the mortgage on their house. HOHF’s support saved the family from losing their home.

Children’s Hospital & Research Center, Oakland 2005, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016

Our gift is allocated to specifically serve the needs of children with congenital heart disease. Funds will be administered by CHO social workers with none of our gift going to administrative costs. HOHF’s desire is to assist the heart families that need financial help with basic needs while in crisis. Examples of such aid would be Emergency Housing, Medication, CPR classes, phone cards, funeral services, utilities, Transportation, Formula, Summer Camp, childcare and other financial assistance.
