Becki's Beat ...

Keep informed about the on goings of HOHF

Executive Director: Becki’s Beat

Our Foundation has been built on "Matters of the Heart", volunteerism, passion, creativity, sound principles, valued partnerships, perseverance, and work that we Love! Not by our own efforts, but only by God's might, a "Harvest of many Hearts" gets the work done. We are His ambassadors, who He has entrusted us, equipped us and directed me, for the good of His cause... to be His hands and feet. Because of the continued loyalty of our cherished contributors and volunteers, we have the privilege to do the work that we do so that the beat of this organization can continue to remain healthy.

Our recent 2012-2013 gifts to other organizations that support our mission, have proven fruitful! Our gift to Camp Taylor sponsored 24 campers at a new camp location in Turlock, CA, It also helped to fund one-fifth the cost of one CA family Camp. 600 people were served through Camp Taylor (9) camp programs catering to the underserved population of congenital heart defect children and their families. We continue to be a solid partner with Camp Taylor, so that the kids they serve, can build meaningful relationships, feel secure, safe and accepted. There are some kids that don't make it to adulthood yet there is mention of how greatly Camp Taylor impacted their often-short lives.

"When camp ends, the relationships don't. They stay with you forever."

-Austin, Teen Camper

"Attending Camp Taylor for the first time drastically changed every view I had on my heart disease."

-Megan, Teen Camper

Closer to home in Tracy, several families were given grants through our JP Matters of the Heart program. Our partnership is now with Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin/Tracy Family Resource Center. In 2013, we kicked off a new project in collaboration with Sutter Tracy Community Hospital called the Caring Hands project. HOHF puts together Tote bags filled with items that families with sick children could benefit from, and are given to them when they are transferred to another hospital. In 2015, in partnership with Premier Hyundai of Tracy & St. Paul's youth group, 73 bags were made and given to Tracy Families in need. Sutter Tracy Community Hospital will fund this project for continuation in 2016. This project shows families who are at STCH that their community cares at a time when extra care is most needed when dealing with a serious illness of their child. One of our goals is to extend a helping hand and a loving heart to our local families at a time of crisis when a Mom or Dad is feeling exhausted emotionally due to the condition of their child.

Our September 13th, 2014 "How Sweet It Is" fundraising event at our new venue River Islands in Lathrop, CA was very fruitful! President Ms. Bonnie Smith is chairing our 2016 event team for our next event which again be held at River Islands in Lathrop on September 24th, 2016. (Click on date to view our invitation) This year will be our 10th event as we celebrate "Art for the Heart". Get a table together and come join us for a night of FUN and generous giving. More than 60% of our fund raising revenue is generated from our auctions so we need your HELP! Please email Jeanna Hoff to donate an item for our auction. jeannalhoff@gmail.com
